Sensenbrenner Park, Columbus, Ohio, USA, 2019[open in full screen]

  Previous

Just a few steps along the North High Street, across a bridge over now abandoned railway tracks another public space. Sensebrenner Park is squeezed between Hyatt Regency and Crown Plaza Hotels, connected with pedestrian passages between themselves and huge tower across the street of Nationwide Insurance [more like everything related to the money business].

Other notable office buildings overlooking this park are Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, Ohio Department of Health and Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation.

It is a relaxing place to enjoy sunshine, sound of waterfall and take a breather for downtown office goers, passerby's, or visitors like us. Park is dedicated in 1980 in honor of "Jack" Sensenbrenner, controversial former Columbus mayor that led city from 1954 to 1959, and from 1964 to 1971. He was once quoted as saying Columbus had "one of the greatest futures of any city in America."

Some nice street furniture like seating accommodation and attractive, almost art piece, bicycle shelter are visible around.

Columbus is proud of its name. All around the city you can see last two letters emphasized in various ways, obviously referring to the USA, but forgetting that last A there is making huge distinction, without A it could represent for example United States of Mexico or United States of Belgium, among many others? [see photo below]. One more little observation. Map posted here is with North pointing to the left? Why?
