❖Yerba Buena–Carousel Plaza, San Francisco, CA, 2013 |
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Previous Baumhart Square, Chicago, IL, USA
Yerba Buena Gardens consists of two blocks of public parks in downtown San Francisco. It was planned as a centrepiece of the redevelopment of the area and opened in 1993. Just to remind you that Yerba Buena is original name for the city that in 1846 become San Francisco. |
This one and the next square are only two of multiple public spaces included in the Gardens, awarded the Gold Medal for Urban Excellence.
In this South Block main attractions are Children's Creativity Museum and a restored 1905 carousel. |
This completely pedestrianized area, obviously well used and loved is really well connected to the nearby hotels, museums, and retail centres. |
