Rockefeller Plaza, New York, USA, 2008

Rockefeller plaza is in the middle of Rockefeller center in midtown Manhattan. it is surrounded with so many important and attractive buildings. The first, original Art Deco complex, is from 1930-es and second group was built around 1960. The most important ones are Radio City, Fox News, McGraw-Hill, Time-Life building, GE building and several others. Significant curiosity is that j.d. Rockefeller jr. as a sole financier started this development in the time of great economic crises in 1930s and provided work for thousands of laborers during the depression years. Famous ice-rink open to general public is on a sunken central space and above it famed annual Christmas tree is installed during winter season. Large number of public artworks are integrated in the center. Bronze gilded statue of Prometeus by P. Manship is one of the most visible.
Space is very lively and have a pleasant atmosphere 24 hours a day even during this cold early spring night when we visited this square.

Plaza was in 1989 proclaimed designated landmark for achieving extraordinary integration of urban planning, architecture, public art and landscaping.
