❖Reco de la Calma, Sitges, Spain, 2009 |
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Previous Plaça Vella, Terrassa
Little town of Sitges, 30 km from Barcelona is really exceptional place. It was first mentioned in 10th century when small "Sitges" castle was built on the rock overlooking the beach. During the following years houses were built around it, then a monastery and few more castles. |
First Santiago Rusiñol with "el Cau Ferrat'" and later Charles Deering with "Palaco Maricel", were most responsible for making Sitges worldwide famous among artistic circles.
This little plaça "Reco de la Calma" squeezed between above mentioned palaces and 17th century seaside church of Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla, is unusually quiet [calma] and charming space in otherwise very dynamic town. |
Sitges is extremely popular in gay population of Europe, with unbelievable night life and rich shopping.
On the small photos bellow taken on both sides of this plaça you can observe few bustling sights of Sitges. Next Alameda Vieja, Jerez |
