Silosi Plato, Beograd, Srbija, 2023[open in full screen]

  Previous

Only 1.5 km from the main Belgrade square [Republic Square], on the bank of the great river Danube, there is this complex of 4 monumental silos, 28m high with 64 connected cells. This specific kind of brutalistic architecture was revitalized with the initiative of the GAIA movement, non profit organization developing in this previously abandoned space, artistic, educational, recreative and programs aiming to the environmental protection.

Silos are today cultural centre. When we were there there was an excellent art exhibition of the Art Project H3O2 Vol. 3 - Aquatectorium: habitats of the future, inspired by the water, by the Atrio, group of architectural and artistic operational practice founded by the architect Miloš Minković Minić. Check photos in the 3rd row bellow. They are also organizing festivals, sport manifestations and other events of cultural significance.

Silos are greatest mural canvas where most prominent Serbian mural artists tried their skills.

Whole complex was revitalized by the creative effort of architects Djordje Bobić and Miloš Petrović. We were lucky to visit this space during the golden hour of the sunset. To make it even more fascinating this was also a last day of Blue Moon. Check the very last photo bellow.

Come here if you have a chance, have cocktail in the bar, or just a coffee or a thee, you will not regret.
