This little park, social place was introduced to us by our friend living in the neighbourhood, praising enthusiastically its value for the locals.

This type of spaces are quite rare and usually are saved as a part of the yard of the wealthy house later nationalized and used for neighbourhood park/gathering place. It is very similar to the other park/public square, actually only other one known to me, near by, also in our collection. It also reminded us that we had an article in our documentation about similar issue.

Most of the houses were built before Second World War, some even before WW I, at the beginning of the XX century. For a long time whole neighbourhood was neglected, houses were in bad shape and habitants were obviously having hard time keeping them standing.

Recently all of that changed, wealthier people bought and renovated most of them reenergizing neighbourhood and proximity to the city center and relative seclusion from the busy city traffic increased their value.

On the the few photos bellow relative prosperity of the space is visible, especially to the locals observing fast change. Most interesting is, in my opinion last photo. Locals are pointing to the little park and asking themselves, quite curiously, if all of them have its own tide in here, probably thinking that it will lift their own and maybe also spirit of the space.

TIP FOR VISITORS: Best burek in Belgrade is made few steps south from here in 29th November Street.
