Skver Mire Trajlovic, Beograd, Srbija, 2007[open in full screen]

  Previous

Mira Trajlovic, was a founder of the BITEF - Belgrade International Theatre Festival more than 20 years ago. Over the years festival become extremely popular among theatre lovers all over Europe. Several years ago this building visible in the middle of the image above, abandoned Adventist church, with great efforts of Mira Trailovic and other theatre enthusiast in Belgrade become the permanent home of the festival.

Space around the church was "stolen", converted to pedestrian space and named after this famous lady in reference to her great efforts.

Nice example how just naming can help in shaping the urban spaces. Square is in close proximity to the one of the major permanent markets in Belgrade and it is functioning as a pleasant quiet spot in otherwise very busy area. Even the stray dog is enjoying this square with enormous bone given to him by meat shop in the market.

Image bellow is a combined profile - cross section of this square [cross section is between black objects] with a little red human figure for proportions.

This is a first square where we are introducing this graphic element, hoping that this will contribute to the understanding of the physical structure of the space.
