Previous Praça do Industria & Comercio, Funchal
On the south side of island of Madeira this tiny place, squeezed between steep hills is still having all the characteristics of the proper city, including this urban square. Officials are obviously taking good care of their city, just a short walk around will give you a very good impression [and hopefully few of our photos]. |

Largo do Pelourinho is right in the middle, [more about what is pelourinho here] white lines on our photo bellow are showing exact location. Space behind the Church of Nossa Senhora da Luz is incorporated to the square, separated just by being on the higher ground. Other prominent building is city hall, few more city offices and across the little bridge, and deep ravine with noisy river and even small waterfall nearby, is nice contemporary structure, Cultural Center John dos Passos . |

Don't miss to make a walk towards historic building, where local cinema is now located [???], for the unforgettable view of the whole town [photos 4, 5 and 6 bellow]. We came to this town to visit famous Restaurante Sol Poente on the rock high above the ocean, it was closed because path was under repairs and blocked, but even just this few sights are worth a visit.
