Piazza Vittorio Emanuelle II & Piazza del Spagna, Finale Marina, Italy, 2015

This square, is located in Marchesato [march - imperial territory] of Finale, pre unification state in Liguria, province of Italy. This space is in Finale Marina, younger of two parts that make Finale Ligure. We also visited much older part Finalborg and two squares from there are also in our collection. South side of the square towards the sea is called Piazza di Spagna and the reason for naming it this way is very obvious. Dominating the space is triumphal arc dedicated to Margherita Maria Teresa d'Asburgo of Spain. Designed by finalese architect Sebastiano Bocciardo. Erected in 1666 it testifies the passage in the marchesato one of the daughter of Filippo IV of Spain, on her travel towards Vienna for the wedding with Leopoldo of Austria. The arc was present of the Marchesato di Finale Diego Alverado, knight to the service of Spanish Court. I found this fact very strange, what do you think?

Few other structures mainly from XVII century are surrounding this magnificence square, but main value to this space are adding locals using intensively this space to their satisfaction.

Just look how they are enjoying early September weather.

Town is very popular in mountain biking community and square is starting point to many groups on their way to the nearby tracks.

Just 200m away is totally hidden little square in Finale, visit it too if you are interested.
