❖Bulevard Ciego de Avila, Ciego de Avila, Cuba, 2022 |

Previous Parque José Marti, Ciego de Avila, Cuba
Bulevard Ciego de Avila, or Rua Indepedencia as indicated on the Google maps, is a strech of three blocks and 1 km long pedestrian boulevar with two story houses fronted with neo-classical colonades making it comfortable to walk even under hot Cuban mid day sun. All major structures in the city are located here, banks, hotels, restaurants and many other public buildings. |
Street furniture is exceptional, benches, shades, plants and even garbage bins are having historic value. Flee market is also part of this urban area contributing to valuable "people watching" experience.
Noticeable was also that in April 2022, at the end period of Covid pandemic, and knowing that most of the Cubans have received three doses of locally produced vaccine, almost everybody is wearing the masks. |
We were doing it too, glad to show our solidarity and appreciation.
We were specially impressed by the vibrant urban atmosphere here, we visited several others cities in Cuba with similar pedestrian space, including Santiago de Cuba, Trinidad and Holgin but this is very exceptionally and skillfully designed urban area. |
