Parque José Marti, Ciego de Avila, Cuba, 2022[open in full screen]

Previous Parque Las Madres, Moron, Cuba

Ciego de Ávila is a city in the central part of Cuba and the capital of Ciego de Ávila Province. The city has a population of about 119,000.

The city of Ciego de Ávila was founded by 1840, having at the time 263 inhabitants. In 1877, its municipal government was created and the city became independent. Over time it became a dynamic and affluent city.

In it, agricultural, livestock and industrial progress were harmonized and together, along with economic progress.

Fields were cleared for crops and industries were introduced, the standard of living enjoyed by its citizens being considerably high.

In this city there are good and modern public buildings, good parks and urban promenades, public art and hotels.

Parque Marti, where this panorama was taken is a park built in 1926 in honour of the Cuban poet and politic figure, is the largest park, typical Latino American urban space, in the city centre. We also visited Catholic Church of San Eugenio de la Palma occupying central position of the square, just across Rue de Independencia.

According to what we participated in the space this street is renamed to Bulevar Ciego de Avila or it is the other way around? That is next urban space in our collection.

Next Bulevard Ciego de Avila, Ciego de Avila, Cuba
