Lastovo is old medieval settlement with very long history. It is located for defensive purpose in the middle of the island, in the amphitheater shape surrounded by steep hills. Buildings from 15th and 16th century in unique Lastovo style are preserved together with “fumari”, richly decorated barbecue chimneys.

Over time they become local trade mark. There are around 800 people in Lastovo today while at the beginning of the century there were 3000 people. You will definitely feel nostalgic for the old times walking through this place.

Name of this street/square is Pjevor, I am still waiting for the clarification for the meaning of this word. All the important public buildings, supermarket, bank machine, few restaurants, tourist office, bus stop to get you to the ferry terminal in Ubli and of course religious structures are all located along this public space.

The chapel of St. Rocco was built in 16th century as a defence against the plague brought in by the ships docking at little port Lucica [visit square in Lucica] just few hundred meters down the hill.

Since Pjevor has always served as a gathering and lookout place for conversations and pleasant stories, stone benches were built around the chapel.

Just above on the next level near the path to the citadel on the top of the hill, overlooking the whole island, is another even older little church of St. Vlaho from the 14th century.
