Thissquare is named after Lawren Harris, founder of the Group of Seven Artists, with scandalous past, lavish society parties, zealous spiritualist cults and a scandalous love affair that landed him in exile.
I still think that he deserves better public space to be named after him.
In August 2026, I've noticed some street art appearing along the side street, at least something?!
We are frequently visiting this area, first we live nearby, second Underpass farmers market is right there and access to our favourite Bayview Avenue is this way. Square is quite pathetic rectangle, surrounded by trees, paved by the mixture of sand and cobble. Very unpleasant walk way, even more unpleasant place to sit and observe very expensive condominiums. On the other side of the Bayview Avenue is Corktown Common Park [where we are every year celebrating double birthday for my granddaughters] with everything you need from the well planed city park.
Square itself is surrounded by one way streets. It is suppose to be circular traffic, very unusual in Toronto and it is actually very confusing. Almost every day it is possible to see someone in the wrong way. If you check all other squares [465 with this one] Lawren Harris square is with the worst evaluation score. We will come back here later during the warmer months to check the impression.
