Love Park, Toronto, Canada, 2024[open in full screen]

< Previous Graffiti Alley, Toronto, Canada

My daughter just moved at her new studio at Harbour Park Square a few days ago and I figured out that this new park was recently opened and it is visible true her window.

The City of Toronto and Waterfront Toronto officially opened Love Park on June 23, 2023 along Toronto’s waterfront. The new 2-acre park creates a lush urban refuge for surrounding residents, workers and visitors on the waterfront. The site creates a new green oasis to the busy heart of the City’s waterfront, reclaiming the former Gardiner Expressway off-ramp at York Street and Harbour Street.

Love Park is a bold and creative new public space that has been enthusiastically shaped and welcomed by neighbours. I'm excited for Love Park to become a favourite for the local community, a joy for visitors, and a wonderful part of a growing, green and beautiful waterfront.” – Councillor Ausma Malik (Spadina-Fort York)

Trellis with movable furniture underneath and the heart-shaped pond in the background. The trellised pavilion needed to be installed on-site in separate pieces thanks to its intricate design.

Hundreds of thousands of small red Mexican smalti glass tiles were hand-selected to help create the new heart of our waterfront.

The animal sculptures were created by artists Tyler Balko and Marina Guglielmi [photos in the last row bellow] whose specialty is in the lost wax casting of metal and glass.

I am quite pleased with the initial steps taken, usage is OK during lunch brake, but let's wait until greenery is fully established to measure the final impression.

In a very close proximity, just diagonally across, two more public spaces deserve our attention. #01 on the map bellow is Love Park, #02 is Queens Quay Terminal and #03 are actually two connected spaces name Ontario and Canada Square. Click on the numbers on the map to visit them.
