Ingram & Craig Streets, Duncan, BC, Canada, 2016

We recently visited Duncan in the Cowichan Valley, Brirish Columbia. City of Totems, as it is often called, centre of the Quw'utsun' nation, comprised of seven aboriginal bands – Comeakin, Clemclemaluts, Kilpaulus, Koksilah, Quamichan, Khenipsen and Somena, surprisingly also hosts this beautiful little urban square.

Duncan is best known for hosting Quw'utsun' nation Cultural and Conference Centre and beautifull nature around the city but this little square was a complete surprise. Atmosphere right after the closing of Sunday market held here, performance gazibo placed in one corner and dominant tower of the city hall overlooking the space looked like square in any mediteranien country.

I have to say that need for the public gathering space is obviously recognized and successfuly executed.
