Rathaus Platz, Salzburg, Austria, 2011 – Psychogeographical Portrait

Our previous visit to Salzburg was in 1977 and from the distance of 35 years city looks even more impressive then I remembered. Entire old city is pedestrianized and atmosphere from the glorious time of Hapsburg Empire is masterfully preserved.

On the map right squares in our collection are marked [links to individual ones are active]. They are so interconnected that it is hard tell where one ends and the other continues.

Rathausplatz [1] is place where we are starting our walk true the city. Following the oldest street in the altstatdt Salzburg, Getreidegasse, first platz you encounter is this one.

Notice the level of sophisticated preservation of the historic traditions with the modern advertising [in this case McDonalds] adjusted to historic ambience. [small photo bellow our evaluation chart].

This platz is smallest of the ones portrayed here but intimacy and human proportions are adding charm hardly surpassed with any other. If you are "into" people watching this is probably the spot.

Select next square from our map left for a short walk to the nearby place.
