Artist Name => Aleksandar Janicijevic Artist/Organizational Statement (133 words)=> Since May 2012 when I took early retirement, I have been active in numerous initiatives around urban revitalization and participated in conferences and symposiums. After 2012 I have continued my art, illustration, design and photography practice. In 2015 I became a founding member of Resilience 2:1, a multi-disciplinary, federally incorporated organization, consisting of a group of educators, researchers and professionals focused on the issue of environmental resilience in Canada. |
Brief description of proposed installation (165 words) Through the use of natural, recycled materials, all of them found discarded in the woods and parks around Toronto, I want to create minimal or no waste in the production of this installation and instead honour the potential found in organic materials all around us. Toys represent imaginary or more realistic animals or little people and their home and sailing ship. Each would carry a singular perspective, equal, reciprocal and interconnected. Primary interest for my previous work was the analysis [psychogeography] of the public urban built environment, the setting for human activity, ranging in scale from buildings to cities and beyond to contemporary urban ambiance, that I am calling “postmetropolis”. |

Technical Description of proposed work (44 words). Installation should be indoor. Tree trunk, 200cm high and with diameter of approximately 12 cm should be securely attached to the floor. Some screwing will be required. There will be a plastic sheet, 200cm x 200cm laid on the floor without any special installation or lighting requirements. |
The Budget and Support Imagery. The budget will indicate roughly how much your project will cost to create and install, itemized by category. Please submit the budget as an Excel, PDF or Word file contained in a Google Drive folder or Dropbox folder that will also include your Support Images. The cost of all the materials mentioned above and all the small "toys' will be no more than $900. |
